Frequently Asked Questions

Why is orthodontic treatment important?

Straight teeth and properly aligned jaws contribute to good dental health as well as overall physical health. Orthodontic treatment can boost a person’s self image as teeth, lips and jaws move into position and improve appearance.

How do parents know if their child needs orthodontic treatment?

The best way is to get an orthodontic evaluation which is offered at no charge in our office. Dr. Haught recommends that children get a check-up by age seven.

What if my child still has baby teeth at age seven? Should they still see an orthodontist?

Yes. By age 7, enough permanent have arrived for Dr. Haught to evaluate how the teeth and jaws meet, and to identify current or developing problems. If a problem is detected, he can discuss when treatment may be necessary.

How does a child’s growth affect orthodontic treatment?

Treatment and growth often compliment each other. In some cases Dr. Haught can take advantage of a child’s growth with interceptive “Growth Guidance” to guide jaws and teeth into their ideal position.

How frequent are orthodontic appointments?

Typically a child will be seen every 3-8 weeks during treatment.

What is the cost of orthodontic treatment?

Fees will vary depending on the treatment needed. We offer convenient payment plans, making treatment very affordable. We are a Delta and Blue Cross Blue Shield provider and take payment directly from the insurance company for most plans. We also work with families to accommodate their company’s flex plans.
